Coachford is built around a crossroads, Mallow is 20 miles north of the village, Macroom is 8 miles to the west, Cork city is 16 miles to the east and Bandon is 20 miles to the south. The village is self sufficient with a vast array of amenities to hand including supermarkets, pharmacy, credit union, medical centre, hairdressing salon, beautician, a hardware store and a selection of public houses.

Coachford has excellent educational facilities on offer. There is a newly built childcare facility in the village. There is also a playschool, primary school and community college. Coachford Community College is renowned for the excellent results achieved by it’s students at both Junior and Leaving Certificate level year after year.
The community is very involved in sport and is home to a GAA complex and soccer club both of which have been recently upgraded to provide top class playing fields and dressing rooms. Other sports such as Badminton, Shooting, Judo and Karate are also catered for. There are many fishing competitions held on the river and the National Rowing Centre is located at Farran Woods which is just a short drive from Coachford.

Coachford is located on a bus route from Cork to Macroom and has a regular service throughout the day going to and from the city.
